Foundation Projects

Foundation Projects

The YV Foundation puts together several projects that enhance the Young Voices experience as well as to continue to inspire a love of music. The following projects are currently running for our teachers, choirs and the wider community.

Teacher Workshops

At venues across the UK, the Foundation delivers all-day workshops for teachers.

These are subsidised by the Foundation and currently cost just £65 per person for a full day of CPD (Continual Professional Development).

The Foundation is fortunate enough to be able to pull together some amazing resources from the Young Voices concerts: Craig McLeish (YV’s Musical Director), David Lawrence (YV’s Principal Conductor), Andy Instone (YV’s Creative Director and Founder of Street Dance Specialists, Urban Strides) as well as Clare Edwards (YV's Director of Learning & Events) and Jayne Minter (YV's Director of Brand & Culture)

If you've been before, you'll know that our team of five professionals offer a full, fun-packed day of learning for teachers, giving them an insight into music teaching techniques (including choral techniques and step-by-step score explanations), musical direction, dance, logistics for on the day, and confidence building.

The workshops are designed to leave teachers with a renewed confidence and the tools and techniques with which to inspire their children.

Undergraduate Placements

Since 2012, in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music, YV Foundation has been running a pilot project for 3rd year under-graduates from the college.

The project is designed to give student musicians in higher education the opportunity to gain experience of working with a large concert organisation such as Young Voices, as well as working alongside the Foundation on any live projects that may be of interest to them.

The students taking part have experienced all aspects of production, production management, administration, event organising, project development and much more.

Following the huge success of this partnership, we are in the process of further developing the project to enable last year's placements to take the project forward in their own and other higher education institutes. We are always open to working with other organisations that may have students that want to undertake placements at our concerts.
