Hattie Whitehead

Each member of the Creative Team was asked to give 10 fun facts about themselves. Here is what Hattie said:

  1. I wrote my first collection of songs at the age of about two and a half whilst my dad accompanied me on guitar. The album was recorded on my dad's tape player and top hits included 'Fairy On Your Head', 'Fairy On Your Cake', and 'Emi and Jesse'.
  2. When I was a child I had an imaginary little sister. She drew on walls with lipstick and was a great scapegoat!
  3. I once asked for a bottle of salad dressing for my birthday so that my mum wouldn't be able to stop me eating it from a spoon.
  4. After playing the role of Mary in the school nativity there was a period of time that I would constantly wear a blue towel around my head and would only answer to the name 'Mary, mother of God'.
  5. When I was born, the midwife put a giant white hat on my head, and my five-year-old sister believed that was why my parents named me Hattie Whitehead.
  6. I come from a family of creatives: My dad is a musician, my mum was a poet, my sister is a dancer, one of my brothers is an actor and the other is studying art and weavery.
  7. When I was about 6, my career goal was to be an ice skater, despite the fact that I had never been ice skating. I blame Torville and Dean.
  8. Two of my favourite things are camping and cheese. Sometimes I think I love cheese more than anything in the whole world.
  9. My grandfather was a writer for the Beano, which was my favourite comic growing up.
  10. I write my own songs as well as performing other people's music and my band and I played at Glastonbury this year. I'm lucky enough that Laura-Jayne sings in that band too!
